May 2024 Approval of REEL Extension Project

In August 2023 a writing workshop was initiated by the OVCRED for the research and extension coordinators of the University leading to the creation of the Mathematics Department Extension Committee (MDEC). After proposing two extension projects, finally one was approved by the administration for implementation. The REEL (Researchers and Educators Enhancement and Literacy) Extension Project was approved in May 2024. The image below is a portion of the released Special Order. Meeting Venue: Bestea's Diner Time started: 3:40 pm Time ended: 5:07 pm MDEC with the Department Staff Mrs. Alcantara Matter covered in the discussion: 1. The REEL extension project of the Mathematics Department was approved by the UESC and Form 02 shall be utilized for it to be endorsed to the administration.  2. The specific part of Form 02 was assigned to the committee members to ensure fast submission to UESC to get the special order within the proposed period of implementing the extension project. 3. The main thing to be added to the approved proposal is the Project Implementation Plan for every specific objective of the extension project. Matters discussed in the meeting: The proposed projects submitted in November 2023 were outside the approved and awarded for the year 2023.  The committee shall push again to submit the proposed project in 2024.  It was announced that the department extension coordinators and the college dean would agree upon the budget for the college extension and how it would be allocated and utilized by the departments.  MDEC with Prof. Mastura

Matters discussed: 1. A letter of specificity shall be prepared as an attached document to the extension project proposal and shall be endorsed by the office of the dean to the UESC.  2. Plans regarding one of the Mathematics Department's activities in the coming Science Week in March 2024, which is the Free Statistical Consultation, was presented. A tarpaulin and posters shall be printed and posted to designated areas in Riconalla building and the Old Math building. MDE Committee Meeting (Feb 2024) 3. Motion for approval of the minutes of the previous MDEC meeting was done by Prof. Malines and seconded by Dr. Abdulcarim. 4. In preparation for the posttest of the Grade 12 students of Mulondo National High School (MNHS), Dr. Aldulcarim volunteered to encode the test questions. The highest performance in the pretest is 43 percent. 5. In preparation for the culmination of the college extension activity in MNHS, an evaluation form shall created and reproduced.
