Stat Clinic (Science Week) March 2023

 

The Free Statistical Consultation (Stat Clinic) by the Mathematics Department is regularly conducted during the Science Week of the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. Spearheaded by the Statistics faculty member, the students and researchers from MSU-Main and from nearby schools are offered free research and statistical advice to facilitate their ongoing theses and research.



 

The latest Stat Clinic served a total of 14 students/researchers both online and offline. This extension activity of the Mathematics Departments reaches as far as MSU-GenSan (through online consultation). The department plans to enhance this specific extension activity for sustainability to contribute to the research community.

Stat Clinic (Science Week) March 2022

 

In celebration of Science Week 2022, The Statistics Center of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics gave free Statistical Consultation from March 7 - 10, 2022. The free consultation is for those students doing their thesis and research. The photo attached is the document of the student clients whom Prof. Lolita Viado, one of the Stat group faculty, has advised. Indicated also are their thesis/research titles. Four students were advised by Dr. Emma P. Obalan and the rest by the other faculty member of the Stat group.

 Research Capability (Webinar in Data Science) March 2022

 

The Mathematics department organized a webinar inviting participants outside the MSU-Main campus. The webinar entitled "What is Data Science?" was conducted on March 4, 2022, with Mr. Chris Koci as the speaker. The webinar was conducted via Zoom App with a live feed to Facebook. There were 121 who registered in the link provided as a Google form.
